The ASB, Crime and Policing Act 2014: a practical overview of the toolkit

Aimed at all community safety partners, including but not limited to councils, police and housing providers, successful completion of the course will provide delegates a:

1. detailed understanding of the Part 1 Injunction including: the behaviour it can be used to address, the legal test, where evidence may come from, consultation requirements and how to use positive requirements
2. detailed understanding of the Closure Order: the types of scenarios it can be used for, how it can help protect vulnerable people, including in cases of cuckooing, the process to follow and how to prepare a strong case
3. overview of the absolute ground for possession: the conditions, the process and notice requirements, the need for strong partnership working and how to acheive this and the steps that can be taken to reduce the chance of Equalities Act challenges
4. awareness of the changes to the discretionary ground for possession
5. overview of the Criminal Behaviour Order: the differences to the injunction, consultation and the process for positive requirements, examples of suitable uses and how to use the legislation to best effect
6. overview of the Community Protection Notice: the legal threshold, the process to follow and examples of suitable cases. The course will also reflect on the national picture and risks to balance and consider with this tool
7. overview of the place based tools: the dispersal powers and the Public Spaces Protection Order
8. update on the Community Trigger: whether it has acheived its intended aim and what we can learn to help improve our current processes
